Big Heart Better Human was founded in 2023 by Derek Scott with the vision to create a community where individuals can represent the clothing line by having a big heart and being a better human in our society.  Derek then partnered with Co-Owner and CFO Valeria Espichan-Garcia who along with him exemplifies a person with a big heart and strives to be a better human every day.

​Both Derek and Valeria received college degrees from William Paterson University. Derek received his bachelors in interpersonal communications with two minors in criminal justice and marketing. Valeria received her bachelor’s degree in marketing. They both went on and have worked in several different sectors of Corporate America, such as property management, accounting, finance and sales.

​Their various years of work motivated them to start BHBH and become a minority/black owned business that represent both of their family cultures and values. BHBH was created to be more than just another line but an opportunity for various people from all backgrounds and cultures to represent who they really are how they want others to be portrayed. The goal everyday at BHBH is to welcome all and create a community where we uplift each other and strive to create a better community in society. The company is a diverse brand that wants to be actively involved in local communities helping those in need and working with local schools and aiding students that exemplify having a big heart and being a better human. Most importantly BHBH stands strong on being a no judgement company.

​BHBH would like to thank all close friends and family for the support along the way as the company progresses. Special thank you to Diane Scott (Derek’s mother) who unfortunately passed in 2013. Her love and care for others lives in Derek every day.
